With their hostility beginning to show its effects on the project, the supervisors tried to ensure peace was kept, but they couldn't be everywhere. However, as the work progressed, Duck and Diesel began arguing again and Percy joined in on Duck's side. To make sure things wouldn't turn ugly, Sir Topham talked with Duck and Diesel, urging them to put their differences aside. Unfortunately, the accident with the turntable well had made Oliver's underlying problems worse and he would stay in the works for several weeks. Duck deduces that Diesel thought his actions were justified and seeing how apologising won't change anything, he decides to avoid Diesel as much as possible until Oliver is repaired. Duck finds it hard to believe Edward's words, and Percy admits that, while Diesel hasn't been up to deviousness since the war, he hasn't apologised for any of his actions. Diesel angrily moves off and gives the trucks a hard bump. The latter immediately starts arguing with Diesel before telling him to take some trucks to a tunnel near Tidmouth Hault to take away the dirt the workmen had burrowed through. The next morning, Diesel arrives at Tidmouth where Percy and Duck are.
Thankfully, Sir Topham had made other arrangements. A workman named Morty confesses about being at fault for Oliver's accident, but Oliver is still frustrated. That evening, Sir Topham Hatt arrived on the scene. The project was going smoothly until Oliver fell bunker-first into the turntable well. Once Duck and Oliver arrived at Tidmouth and met Thomas and Whiff, the engines set to work. Duck and Oliver are to take a works train to Tidmouth where the new branch line is starting, and they will be assisted in building by the engines from the Ffarquhar Branch Line, with two engines from there taking in turns to help. Although Edward tells Duck that Diesel is a different engine now, Duck is still skeptical. Toad was needed on their old branch line, which is now overrun with diesels who would usually fail and be ungrateful whenever they were rescued. The engines who would help build and run the line would be Duck and Oliver, who Edward and Douglas meet at Wellsworth.

The local community had wanted rail access for years, and British Railways amended the project, turning the industrial line into a full branch line and started construction. At Waterton, on the north-west coast of Sodor, a big storage facility was constructed for oil to be delivered to there by ship and taken to the mainland via rail. Many projects were started to build the infrastructure to prepare supply levels for the high demand, one of which was on Sodor. Our results also provide important practical implications for online home-sharing platforms.Animosity is the eleventh episode of Season 4 of Stories of Sodor.Īs the 1960s began, oil had become the future fuel source for Britain. This study contributes to the fast-growing literature focusing on various factors affecting consumers' booking decisions on online home-sharing platforms. As the intensity increases, both war animosity and economic animosity will ultimately have a negative effect on consumers' Airbnb booking decisions. Further, such effects of consumer animosity are negatively moderated by the intensity level of events inducing animosity. However, war animosity has limited effect on outbound travelers' decisions. Contrary to the extant studies which mostly show a negative effect of consumer animosity on purchase intentions, we find that consumer's economic animosity is likely to have a positive effect on outbound travelers' decisions in the context of sharing-based accommodations.
Utilizing the events as exogenous shocks, we applied difference-in-differences (DID) approach to infer the causal effect of consumer animosity on Chinese outbound travelers' demand for sharing-based accommodations. Utilizing a unique geopolitical environment where Chinese consumers bear economic animosity (towards South Korea) and war animosity (towards Japan), we collected a comprehensive panel data set including listings and reviews from Airbnb, together with a list of events inducing animosity. In particular, we examine the differential effects of two types of consumer animosity: economic animosity and war animosity. This study investigates the impact of consumer animosity, a determinant of consumers' purchase decisions in international businesses, on outbound travelers' demand for sharing-based accommodations. Online home-sharing platforms, such as Airbnb, have recently become increasingly popular among travelers, including outbound travelers.
